VACANCY STATUS:
Compliance Officer – Cape Town
We are looking to appoint an experienced Compliance Officer to join our Cape Town team.
This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of Financial Services Providers, asset managers, investment managers, insurers, crypto asset service providers and other regulated businesses, providing practical regulatory advice and helping clients navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment. This is an independent consultant opportunity. The successful candidate will be engaged as an independent contractor.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should:

Be approved by the FSCA as a Category I and ideally a Category II Compliance Officer.

Category II approval will be advantageous.
-
Have at least 3–5 years’ practical compliance or regulatory experience within the financial services industry.

Be based in the Cape Town metropolitan area.
-
Have a valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
-
Have the ability to work independently from a home office when required.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
-
Managing a portfolio of compliance clients.
-
Conducting compliance monitoring and reporting.
-
Providing practical regulatory advice to clients.
-
Assisting clients with implementing regulatory requirements.
-
Preparing compliance reports and Board reports.
-
Identifying regulatory risks and recommending practical solutions.
-
Liaising with regulators where appropriate.
-
Keeping clients informed of regulatory developments.
-
Supporting clients with governance, conduct, AML/CFT/CPF and broader compliance obligations.

Technical Knowledge
Experience in the following areas will be advantageous:

Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA)

AML/CFT/CPF compliance
-
Conduct of Business requirements
-
Governance and risk management
-
FSCA regulatory framework
Computer Skills
Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft 365, including:
